Recipes

I'm not what you'd call a world-class chef - far from it. I can do odd things with spices that make food taste good, mostly a pinch of this and a touch of that - a kitchen wizard of sorts, but certainly no potions master. But I have a few old stand-bys, recipes I devised myself, or snagged from friends, or a combination of the two, which I've chosen to chronicle here, mostly so that I can find them when I need them.

For instance: For a quick and easy meal, you can't beat Sorcha's beef stroganoff or chicken paprikash, both easy to cook and deliciously tasty. Also in the quick-and-easy list are my rosemary potatoes, which taste homemade even though they barely qualify as such. If you've got a bit more time to spend in the kitchen, there's my chicken salad recipe, or for a classier meal, there's Yucatan Fish or poached salmon.

Not feeling well? Try some classic Jewish chicken soup with perfect matzoh balls. Or maybe you're looking for a touch of something sweet - try the cookie bars or the diet-safe creme brulee. Or perhaps you need a drink? I have a few interesting mixed drinks, too.

But my favorites have to be the down-home classics - angelhair lasagna with thick, chunky spaghetti sauce - and my holiday favorites: turkey stuffing and sweet potato pie.

Enjoy!
